Our Methods

Like most quality print manufacturers, we actively perform recycling, and opt to print on recycled or FSC paper, but that’s not what makes EnviroPrint Australia unique.

At EnviroPrint Australia we actively work to minimise waste and maximise resource use. We learn from each project and enjoy working with people and organisations that regard the needs of others as important to their self worth. Our community approach offers opportunities for businesses and non-profit organisations to work together to make a positive difference to the environmental, cultural and social future of the planet we all share.

Our paper products are printed in Australia using a variety of methods and supplied to beneficiaries and customers, from Environmental, Conservation, Cultural or Charitable Organisations. Our methodology is tailored to meet the needs of these organisations, including environmentally responsible production techniques, cost savings, donated services or goods and professional, experienced assistance.

Reclaimed Recyclable Potential Waste Paper

The potential waste paper that is utilised through the EnviroPrint Assistance Program, rather than being destined for recycling, saves trees, oil, electricity, water and landfill and has a direct impact on climate change. For every tonne of paper we reclaim in this way, we save approximately 13 trees – plus importantly, we communicate a positive, often environmental message to the community!

Printing Techniques include:

Offset & Digital Printing Options

Our offset printing uses computer-to-plate technology, recyclable aluminium plates, soy inks and vegetable based cleaning solutions to minimise environmental impact. Digital printing also offers a suite of benefits with far less setup requirements as there are no plates, no chemicals for processing, and minimal waste during production.

Our award-winning community-based production methods incorporate the sharing of setup costs to allow valuable cost savings to our customers through regular print runs and; opportunities for the use of reclaimed recyclable potential waste material. This enables a reduction in chemical use, minimisation of waste, savings of electricity and water and reduces the necessity for recycling.

Explanations
Colours:

For printing whether offset or digital, we require files to be setup as 4 colour process (CMYK), which uses the colours of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. It is important to note that your computer monitor and digital camera use RGB which is a different colour set (Red, Green & Blue) and the colours on screen may appear lighter, stronger or more vivid than printed results. Conversion from RGB to CMYK will make a change to the resultant colours. Exact colour matches are not always possible. Digital camera images need to be converted to 300dpi and also to CMYK format.

If you are concerned about the colour of your printed item, then please select to have a hard copy digital proof printed for your approval prior to the print run.

Paper Type:

Customers supplying their own artwork should ensure that the files are appropriate for the paper stock selected and print technique. For example, if you have selected EnviroPrint 100% Recycled uncoated paper for offset printing, then the ink coverage should be lighter as the paper is porous and shall absorb the ink more than coated EnviroPrint Gloss paper.

It is a good idea to have a maximum of 300% ink coverage, for example a colour may consist of a mix of 100% Cyan, 50% Magenta, 100% Yellow, 50% Black to total 300%. More ink density requires more drying time, and may pose print quality or clarity problems. (So try to steer clear of “four colour black”).

Bleed:

We require a minimum of 3mm of extra space around your artwork. This is required if you have a colour or an image that extends to the trim edge. This means that the image or background colour must extend 3mm past the edge. It will be cut off when guillotined to finished size, giving neat edges.

Image Resolution:

Images and photographs need to have a resolution of 300dpi (dots per inch) at actual size to achieve required print quality. Images that are sourced from websites are usually only 72dpi, and will result in a low quality print job, with blurry unclear images. Likewise images that are greatly enlarged from original size may also not achieve required print quality.

Where possible logos should be supplied as vector artwork, eg Adobe Illustrator format.

Fonts:

It is important to ensure all fonts are embedded in your high resolution PDF. If they are not embedded, font substitution may occur if we do not have the same font in our system. Another alternative is to outline the fonts to ensure accurate results.
